Welcome to my blog and Happy New Year!
To start, I thought about writing an introductory post that explains what you will be expecting on this site, but I figure I will let my work speak for itself. Going into a new year is a brand-new start and I hope everyone has been able to find some sort of solace as we adjust to this new phase.
As you've probably already sensed from the 'Story' section of my blog, I don't mince any words when it comes to subjects that matter to me. So you can expect to see posts that are relatable and authentic. I want this to be a site where you can find pieces that relate to your everyday life or aspects of your life that is more personal to you.
For this first post, I just want to remind you to be gentle with yourself as you transition into the new year. A lot of us are under the perception that a new year means a 'new you' and this isn't necessarily the truth. Many of us are still healing from 2018 and the painful lessons and experiences we may have endured.
For myself, I definitely realize that toxic traits and better communication with others are something I need to work on. We all have things about ourselves that we need to change in order to grow. Whether that be toxic behavior, procrastination, tardiness, envy/comparison, the list goes on and on.
This year, instead of making a list of resolutions that seem too big to tackle, bit by bit you can begin to dissect parts of your life that you wish to improve and you can keep track of in any way that you feel is helpful. I started a journal that lists everything I wish to improve and I found this to be helpful for me. However, you can keep track using any method that you feel is helpful for you. I will make a blog post later on explaining methods of maintaining your goals, etc.
The key here is just to be aware of the things in your life that are negative and to figure out how they are holding you back from being the person you want to be.
That's all it takes. Start small, be aware and you will get there. Every now and then as we get further into 2019, I challenge you to see what lessons 2018 taught you and how you can use these lessons to be a better you.
I wish you peace and solace this year and I hope you find the courage to go after whatever it is you would like to achieve.
Always with love,
Bria
